The Importance of Activities

Some activities/ hobbies I enjoy that help me cope in difficult situations involve exercise, walks in nature and video editing. Exercise because mainly I’ve witnessed the cons of neglecting health and the consequences that come with that as a person grows older so working out helps me feel more productive and helps me relieve stress. When the weather is nice and I need some time for myself. I prefer to go out for walks in nature, and listen to music. It’s a very simple activity that doesn’t involve much but I personally tend to be more introverted and need times where I can recharge and just be alone so this time to myself helps me especially if I’ve had a rough week or day. Lastly, video editing has been a hobby of mine since I was eleven and throughout the years I’ve been able to grow and expand my knowledge in this particular field. Movies in general have always been fascinating to me so learning how the art all comes together and then making it myself has been something that has not only distracted me in dark times. But helped teach me that following your curiosities can help lead you to your passion. After reading the beginning chapters of The Other Wes Moore, it made me reflect on my youth and how important activities and hobbies are. Even if it’s not something a child might not be good at or enjoy initially, it can help them focus on perfecting that skill and keep them out of trouble. I’m glad I have these things to help me cope in stressful times and I think it’s essential for everyone's mental health to have an activity that helps them relax and brings them a form of joy or fulfillment.

  1. Hi Bianca! I also enjoy going on walks in nature, it definitely helps me Zen and kinda feel connected to nature more, especially when I pay close attention to the plants and animals. I am a introvert as well and I definitely agree that spending time with nature especially when it's nice with music is a great way for us to recharge and enjoy alone time.

  2. I really love the video you share, it's actually important to have a hobby, to have something that can clear our mind and bring us peace and joy. I also like doing exercise as my "escaping reality" activity because it brings me peace and something else to focus on. Thanks for sharing this video, nice blog.

  3. Hi Bianca!
I also share the same love of being outdoors, something about the sun on my skin and a nice deep breathe of fresh air really helps me come back down to earth. Hobbies are a great way to improve mental health and overall well being.
